Cylinder Head Tuning

Racing Green have been modifying cylinder heads for 20 years. We would be happy to discuss your needs and advise you on the best course of action, to match your budget with your requirements.

Our price index for modifying cylinder heads is very easy to understand and has proven to be effective. To estimate the cost of having your cylinder head modified simply take the total number of ports/valves and the total number of combustion chambers, add these together and multiply by €80 Euros.

 
         
    Example 1: Opel 16v

16 Valves = 16 Ports, 4 Combustion Chambers
16 + 4 = 20
20 x 80 = 1600
= €1600 Euros.

 

 
         
    Example 2: Opel 8v

8 Valves = 8 Ports, 4 Combustion Chambers
8 + 4 = 12
12 x 80 = 660
= €960 Euros
 
         
 

This covers the cost of NDT (non-destructive-dye-penetrant“crack”testing), modifying the cylinder head, porting and polishing (gas flowing) the channels (runners), polishing (and reshaping if necessary) the combustion chambers, cutting the valve seats with 3 angled MIRA tooling, refacing the valves, vacuum testing, milling (facing/truing) the head face voluming and equalising the combustion chambers, cleaning the head, packaging and shipping it back to you. Note: Maximum Shipping Weight within Europe 20kg.

The Price index is based on you sending us your cylinder head stripped and cleaned with nothing but the valves fitted loosely in place. No Valve Springs, shims, retainers, or stem seals should be on the head. Also please remove all studs and brackets.

Of course, it is virtually impossible to get the cylinder head totally clean, and some carbon deposits are acceptable, but please do not send them dripping with engine oil. If you prefer to send the head assembled and dirty. We will be happy to strip and clean it for you, we can also assemble it after the work has been carried out. But this carries a surcharge at our build shop rate of €80 Hour. If any valve guides, valve seats or valves require replacement this carries additional costs at the standard build shop rate, plus parts.

Any cylinder head packages weighing more than 20kg (shipping weight) will also carry a surcharge at regular international European rates.
